It's been a hectic kick-off to Autumn, getting ready for the festive season. Instead of our typical monthly mood board, I'm showcasing some lovely new makers now at our Herne Hill Store and online!

Founded in the spring of 2016 by Lee, Mr Pickles emerged from a personal journey of overcoming anxiety and depression. From a humble kitchen table in South London, Lee, armed with a children's sewing machine, transformed sketches into delightful toys inspired by his own childhood. As Lee's skills blossomed, so did his mental well-being, turning designing and sewing into a passion that made anxiety manageable. Mr Pickles was born.
The Peel Off Print Co. started in a Glasgow studio in 2020 by Jamie with an aim to make fashion fun, easy, and accessible for everyone. He wanted kids to be free from the restraints of screen time to let their imaginations flourish and feel empowered enough to create masterpieces with their own hands.
PopKits help kids practise their fine motor and problem solving skills. Whether children are breathing new life into a pre-loved T Shirt with a colourful dinosaur design or re-imagining an old cushion cover with a new and vibrant tiger print.
Started in 2012 in Walthamstow, Sam turned her kitchen table hobby of artisanal soap making and scent creation, and transformed it a full time business. Passionate about natural ingredients that nourish and care for the skin, and Soapsmith never compromise on quality. All their packaging is recyclable, and their products are vegan friendly and not tested on animals.
Another Loop is a design & print studio founded by Charlotte and Tom in Newcastle Upon Tyne. They think that pieces of stationery can be miniature artworks in their own right! As an alternative to off-the-shelf gift ideas, they create stationery to treasure; incorporating creative gestures and finishing touches that make the final result completely unique.
All of their foil products are 100% recyclable and any foil waste that is produced during the printing process is returned sent off and converted into renewable energy.
Laura began designing greetings cards in 2010, from her studio in Uppermill, England. With a love of hand-drawn and painted illustration, in a world of ever more computerised images. Laura's cards have won awards, sold in a host of beautiful and unique gift shops and galleries, and have always been printed on recycled card and packaged in biodegradable sleeves. Ethical practice and sustainability has always been at the heart of Laura's business, and they plant a tree for every order placed.
Based in Devon, this artisan cocoa company. We feel that cocoa beans should do all the talking in the chocolate, so we lightly roast our beans to preserve the natural goodness in the bean. This gives their chocolate a lovely fruitiness that you don’t get with other chocolate bars. They use whole milk powder and golden cane sugar to give Barbers chocolate a rich creaminess that melts in the mouth. All their packaging is recyclable.
Angela started Dapple & Dot in 2022 and is passionate about creating beautiful little things inspired by the natural world around me that give back to the planet! Everything that Dapple & Dot make is designed by Angela and produced in house, from a cosy studio in the beautiful New Forest, where they design, cut, print. Not only does this mean they can keep quality levels really high, but it also keeps their carbon footprint small!
All of their packaging is recyclable or compostable. Paper stocks and wood stocks are from sustainably managed forests.
Women-run British independent design studio in Tiverton. Lilly Faith is a small but mighty team of creative women (plus Ned the dog), taking care to cultivate the rich craft heritage from which we sprouted. Their work pays witness to Devon’s changing seasons, from the zingy shoots of Spring to the buttoned-up cool of Autumn. To nurture the nature that inspires, they do what they can to tread lightly. Thoughtful choices, like sustainably sourced materials and recyclable packaging, mean you can gift without guilt.
